Church and Convent of São Fins de Friestas

Monastery Historical heritage

It’s one of the most remarkable examples of Romanesque architecture in Portugal and has been a national monument since 1910. The Monastery of Sanfins was the seat of the former Monastery of Couto de Sanfins and lasted until 1834.

Its importance merited several royal charters. The former monastery and walled grounds offer a trip back in time within a unique natural space. The earliest buildings date back to AD 604.
