Nossa Senhora de Mosteiró Church and Convent complex

Monastery Historical heritage

Founded in 1392, the Convent of Nossa Senhora de Mosteiró became the first in Portugal of the Order of Saint Antony of the Franciscans of Primitive Observance. The interior of the church is dotted with gilded baroque and neoclassical carvings. The walled enclosure and the old monastery complete the ensemble.

Nearby there used to be a small convent belonging to Augustinian Hermits, dating back to 713 AD.
