Church of Santa Maria dos Anjos
Church
The Romanesque mother church of Valença, dating back to the 13th century, has a longitudinal plan.
Inside, the nave has five carved, polychrome altarpieces in neoclassical and baroque style, two of which are placed on either side of the triumphal arch. The chancel houses the altarpiece, with its equally polychrome carvings and also neoclassical.
The adjoining funerary chapel also preserves interesting traces of 16th-century mural painting.
