Historical heritage
A day out in Monção isn’t complete without a visit to the famous Brejoeira Palace: a grandiose building in neoclassical style with baroque overtones, dating from the early 19th century and classified as a National Monument since 1910.
In the past it was the site of vast estates, now merged into the same large area where the famous Alvarinho wine and traditional orujo (pomace brandy) is produced. Since 1977 it’s become established as a benchmark in the production of this wine variety – worth a visit for some wine tasting!
